About five years ago my parents were looking to move a bit closer to their one and only favorite daughter! We had been separated for about six years and with my step Dad transferring jobs from Wisconsin to Chicago this would be the perfect opportunity to reunite.
My Mom always had great vision when remodeling and decorating homes. Her spaces are always very stylish, yet feel comfortable and inviting.
So let the tour begin...
The front porch is a beautiful space that welcomes you into their home. They have worked very hard adding landscaping bricks throughout. Also by planting bushes and evergreens they have added some much needed privacy.
In the living room my Mom used identical sofas that face each other to create a cozy conversation area and provides plenty of seating to enjoy the fireplace.
The dining room, although, connected to the living room is its own perfect space. Separated by this large oriental rug, this is where we have holiday celebrations.
This bathroom was updated with a free standing tub and shiny tile accent wall. This bathroom is off the hallway and is primarily used for guests.
My personal favorite of any home, the kitchen. When they purchased this home the area was a small outdated galley kitchen. They decided to bump out the back wall which added 200 square feet, this left enough space for a large island and a eat in area.
The master bedroom is off the kitchen on the main level. This room also benefiting from the remodel gained not only square footage, but also a larger closet and master bath. I love all the sunshine that beams from the windows and patio doors.
The master bath is beautiful with this double vanity and stand-up shower. Flooring in here mimics the kitchen with large 16x16 travertine tile.
The basement was refinished, complete with laminate flooring to protect against potential water. They added bright white paint to liven up the area, due to lack of windows. This is a fantastic area for kids of any age to play or just hang out.
Now can you believe that out of all the years and all the parties, that I do not have any pictures of the best part of this house...THE POOL!!! Unfortunately, every pic either has someone splashing around or is not suitable for internet eyes. At this time of year the pool is already closed for any new pictures. Boohoo!
I hope you enjoyed a little glimpse into the best house around town. Thanks for stopping by.
I would love to hear your comments on your favorite room, either in this house or your own.
Next up is all about the holidays, I'll be talking tablescapes on Dec. 3rd so hope you'll visit then!
